Grills Family Restaurants are excited about a new addition to the menu “Lion Fish”.
The Lion Fish is an invasive species to the Florida Space Coast reefs and estuaries, “These fish eat juvenile fish of every species and increase in numbers at and exponential rate” said Ned Tibbits a local fishing and diving enthusiast. “I am glad to see that Grills Restaurants have placed a bounty on these fish and we are seeing the impact on their numbers offshore.” said Ned. The waterfront restaurant is encouraging their guest to do their part for the environment, eat a Lion Fish and share photos on social media with the tag #LionTamer .
Lion Fish has been described as a white meat fish that doesn’t taste “fishy” and is downright exciting to eat. The flavor is amazing with a sweat Asian style glaze. Lion Fish can be added to your meal as an appetizer or ordered as dinner sized portion with sides.
The winter months will prove to be difficult for local divers to harvest the Lion Fish. The commercial divers go down to depths of 80 to 90 feet off Port Canaveral, Florida in search of the fish, as seas get rough this trips become extremely dangerous. Because of the difficulty in collecting these fish, Grills is reminding the locals and travelers to get here while supplies last.
